This is a tumblelog, kinda like a blog but with short-form, mixed-media posts with stuff I like. Scroll down a bit to start reading, or a bit more to read more about me.
And this is where the next winter #Olympics are going to be held: http://huff.to/PikH5i?
Do we, as an international group of people, really want the 2012 Winter Olympics to be held in Russia if we cannot express who we are without being subjected to fine or imprisonment?
October 1, 1982: The discovery of cyanide in Tylenol capsules. 7 people died from the cyanide-laced capsules. No more cases of poisoning occurred beyond the first handful reported in early October. Yet the crisis showed how the (American) government could spring into action, issue warnings, change regulations, and spend money, when they thought the lives of Americans were at stake.
By comparison, 634 Americans had been stricken with AIDS by October 5, 1982. Of these, 260 were dead. There was no rush to spend money, mobilize public health officials, or issue regulations that might save lives. Everyone gasped a collective yawn over the story of dead and dying homosexuals.

#NowPlaying #SameLove @macklemore @RyanLewis @marylambertsing My (straight) brother shared this with me this morning. It almost made me cry. They make fun, but they still love. “It is #humanrights for everybody, there is no difference. Live on and be yourself.” #gayrights
I heard she left home because her daddy took her black cherry. (pause) BLAM! You all get a taste of the bitch puddin’!
Truth and honesty first and foremost.
I have had numerous interviews at corporations and agencies and I indirectly let whoever it is that is interviewing me know that I am gay: I write for a queer-focused popular culture blog and my writing samples include published work from said site - there is no way of me escaping my true self. … And why would I want to escape my true self? What is the point of me not being my real self? I like to let people know “right off the bat” so that there are no surprises down the road. If they aren’t comfortable with me being gay, then that isn’t an environment I want to work in. It’s as simple as that. Why would I want to feel uncomfortable in a working environment? If people feel uncomfortable by me being gay that isn’t my problem, it’s theirs. Deal with it. Why should I feel that I have to hide my true self for you to be comfortable around my fake self while you get to be your true self? Make sense? That’s not fair, that’s not fair at all.
When I (eventually) become a CEO there will be gay-unicorn-rainbow-themed rooms with bass-booming surround-sound systems that will blast Lady Gaga and Britney Spears; it will Gay Pride 365 days per year (not that gay, but you get the point - in order to be successful in your work environment, you need to be in one that makes you feel comfortable in order for you to be driven toward that particular success, however you define it).
I would hope that in 15 years gays and lesbians in positions of power in their respective companies will not (still) feel the need to remain closeted and not able to freely and truly express who they are and what they are made of.
With reference to Goldman Sachs Group Inc. CEO Lloyd Blankfein being quoted in the article: “It doesn’t come without a price, but I could care less.” Absolutely, being ‘out’ in a work environment might come with a price, but to be happy and free with who you really are and who you really want to be is priceless. The people who have a problem with your sexuality aren’t worth your personal suffering. Seriously, who the fuck cares? Not me.
